Frank and I attended the week long ChiRunning program in June. We have been diligently practicing our ChiRunning form and are loving it. Frank just ran a tough half at 1:40:44 almost effortlessly. My time wasn’t as good but I did finish over 20 minutes ahead of the 2nd place finisher in my age division. We both recovered quickly and have avoided injuries.
The most beneficial addition to our program is the metronome. We set it on 180 and a 2 beat count that makes it sound like a tic-toc or ping-pong. I like to focus on my hip bones and think of a ping pong ball bouncing between each hip bone as I slightly rotate and open my hips to increase my stride while visualizing and repeating, “ping pong, ping pong, ping pong…”
We will continue our adventure in ChiRunning and report back regularly!! I might note that in the 10k and half we just ran we used our metronomes and everyone was interested, not annoyed at all. I did get tired of explaining the concept though!!
