Join Hazel Wood, Master Instructor Chi Running and Chi Walking for a weekly Chi Walking class March 29 to May 3. The Chi Walking technique emphasizes walking form—the proper and effective biomechanics of walking and draws from the movement principles of Tai Chi to make walking easier on the body. You’ll learn to use your core muscles to create whole body walking, reducing the stress and strain on your hips, back, legs, knees and feet. Discover how sound biomechanics, improved posture and using your core helps you move with less effort¬ in a way that is good for your whole body.
In this 6-week course you will learn the essential foundation skills for your Chi Walking practice. You will be guided through exercises and drills designed to leave you with a clear sense of what the Chi Walking technique feels like in your body.

• Injury-prevention techniques
• Keys to reducing effort by focusing on efficiency
• Core muscle drills and exercises
• Upper body and lower body usage
• Personal check-in tricks and tools – Body scanning, awareness and practice focuses
• Innovative technique drills
• Body loosener exercises to loosen joints, ligaments, tendons
• How to relax and conserve energy at any walking speed
Class format includes discussion, demonstration and walking practice. The class is appropriate for beginners and experienced walkers. The class will be held both indoors and outdoors.
