The Chi Walking technique emphasizes walking form—the proper and effective biomechanics of walking and draws from the movement principles of Tai Chi to make walking easier on the body. You’ll learn to use your core muscles to create whole body walking, reducing the stress and strain on your hips, back, legs, knees and feet. Discover how sound biomechanics, improved posture and using your core helps you move with less effort¬ in a way that is good for your whole body.
In this class you will learn the essential foundation skills for your Chi Walking practice. You will be guided through exercises and drills designed to leave you with a clear sense of what the Chi Walking technique feels like in your body.

What you’ll get:
• Introduction to the Chi Walking method
• Injury-prevention techniques
• Keys to reducing effort by focusing on efficiency
• Core muscle drills and exercises
• Upper body and lower body usage
• Personal check-in tricks and tools – Body scanning, awareness and practice focuses
• Innovative technique drills
• Body loosener exercises to loosen joints, ligaments, tendons
• How to relax and conserve energy at any walking speed

The class is appropriate for beginners and experienced walkers. There will be some walking but only enough to learn and feel the basics of Chi Walking. The class will be held outdoors so dress in layers and bring water, sunscreen, snacks etc.
