Workshop is from 9 a.m.-noon.
Community Education at Las Positas College presents this special opportunity for runners to learn the basics of Chi Running. The special registration fee of $89 is available only through direct registration at www.laspositascollege.edu/communityed. Space is limited so register early to reserve a place.
Learn how to run with greater ease, energy and avoid injury. Efficient running technique affords less stress on your body while running and requires less effort. I will be guiding you through many exercises and drills designed to leave you with a clear sense of what the ChiRunning technique feels like in your body. We will not be doing lots of running (contrary to what you might imagine), so no matter what condition you are in, have no fear. We will spend time alternating between demonstrations, fun exercises and technique drills … the nature of the day will be relaxed, full and inspiring. This class is for anyone – beginners who want to start off “right”, seasoned runners who want to increase distance or speed, triathletes looking to improve the run portion, or if you’re just tired of being injured. The class will be outdoors on the campus of Las Positas College. Parking and meeting location details will be emailed to you.
What you will learn includes:
• How to develop and practice good posture all day long
• How to move from your center (dantien) as in T’ai Chi
• How to avoid common form-related running injuries
• How to save energy and reduce dependence on leg strength
• How to make efficient use of upper body and arms
• How to use cadence to increase efficiency and reduce effort
• How to use gears for efficient stride length and speed
• How to relax and conserve energy at any speed
Bonus – Reference materials will be emailed post event.
